ProtectorFlex® PKET-1500 transposition manholes are specialized maintainable watertight manholes designed for housing transposition boxes of high-voltage cable lines from 6 to 500 kV.

Design

  • Unified product of standard design
  • The conical design of the upper part of the manhole equally distributes load
  • Vandal-proof airtight cover prevents unauthorized access by third parties
  • Flame-resistant inner layer (FV-0 category)
  • System of multiple-use watertight terminations
  • A sump in the lower part allows condensate removal

Key advantages

  1. Factory-made, serially produced product
  2. Sealing (IP68 reliable protection according to GOST 14254-2015). No risk of flooding for the internally located screen transposition link box
  3. Increased strength. The spherical upper part of the manhole body uniformly distributes the load from the soil or road surface
  4. Inner surface of increased abrasion resistance
  5. Resistance to aggressive environments
  6. System of multiple-use watertight terminations
  7. Compliance with industrial safety standards
  8. Design and load requirements comply with GOST 32972-2014
  9. Flame-resistant inner layer (FV-0 category)
  10. Quick and simple installation. No need for heavy construction equipment during installation work
  11. Quality control of each manhole on a unique test stand

02 Application area

Housing transposition link boxes

6 kV 500 kV

The use of polymer transposition link boxes in ProtectorFlex® manholes completely eliminates the occurrence of touch voltage and step voltage both inside and outside the manhole, thus eliminating the need for an expensive grounding loop with a resistance of 0.5–4.0 Ohm typically required for electrical safety, and allowing instead a grounding loop with a resistance of just 10–20 Ohm.

Approved by the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation

Included in the State Estimate Standards by the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation: Federal cost estimates for materials used in construction.

Operating principle

Screen cross-bonding for single-core cables is a proven means of reducing losses in a cable line and increasing its ampacity.

Installing a screen cross-bonding system can reduce the cost of cable line losses by tens or even hundreds of thousands of rubles annually, and enhance its ampacity.

For arranging transposition, the cable line is divided into sections numbering in multiples of three of approximately equal length. At the section joints, special couplers with external screen leads are installed, and the screens are connected via connecting wires to transposition link boxes. These boxes contain surge arresters that protect the cable sheath against impulse overvoltages.

To implement cable transposition, the cable line is divided into a number of sections, in multiples of three, of approximately equal length. At the junctions between sections, special cable joints with external screen connections, referred to as transposition couplers, are installed. The screens are then connected by means of bonding cables to transposition link boxes, which are equipped with surge arresters (SAs) to protect the cable sheath from transient overvoltages.
