ProtectorFlex® UTP cross-bonding unit

Compact, watertight, electrically safe, factory-assembled
For cross-bonding of cable screen with a rated voltage of up to 500 kV
01 Description
ProtectorFlex® UTP transposition unit is a compact polymer watertight manhole, with one or two in-house pre-assembled Energotek KTP boxes, as well as connected and reliably watertight sections of Energotek PPS bonding cable, brought out of the manhole for connection to the transposition wires coming from the cable line splice joints.
ProtectorFlex® UTP cross-bonding unit can be produced in terracotta color.
Modifications
- ProtectorFlex® UTP 1000/500 1хKTP-TS/OPN – with one three-phase box for cable screens transpositions
- ProtectorFlex® UTP 1000/500 2хKTP-TS/OPN – with two three-phase boxes for cable screens transpositions
- ProtectorFlex® UTP 1000/500 1хKTP-T/OPN – with one three-phase box for transposition of cable screens
ProtectorFlex® UTP cross-bonding unit can be equipped with KTP-T/ZML transposition link boxes.
(at least 50 years)
Key advantages
- A ready-made complex solution that does not require additional equipment. The unit is factory-assembled under controlled conditions, with quality assurance implemented at every manufacturing stage
- Frequently occurring installation and sealing errors associated with bushing transposition cables into the manhole are completely avoided
- A compact design for installation in confined spaces
- Totally watertight system. IP68 protection level against dust and damp
- Electrically safe design. The manhole and the transposition link box body are made of dielectric materials
- Quick and simple installation
- Reduced costs for electrical installation work
- Resistant to aggressive environments
- Light weight: heavy construction vehicles are not required
02 Application area
Cross-bonding of cable screen
Intended for cross-bonding of cable screen with a rated voltage of up to 500 kV. A ready-to-install compact solution enables faster electrical installation, eliminates field-assembly errors, and provides maximum unit reliability. This design effectively prevents water intrusion, incorrect screen termination, and subsequent overheating of the cable line.
03 Advantages of ProtectorFlex® UTP
Delivering the unit fully assembled eliminates common on-site electrical installation errors, specifically:
- Loss of sealing at the connection point between the transposition wire and the transposition link box
- Loss of sealing at the point of transposition wire entry into the manhole
The unit’s compact design enables cable screen transposition in confined spaces where a standard manhole cannot fit.
The manhole’s lightweight, compact design requires no heavy construction equipment and minimizes earthwork, significantly reducing overall installation effort.
The use of polymer Energotek KTP transposition link boxes in ProtectorFlex® UTP cross-bonding units completely eliminates the occurrence of touch voltage and step voltage both inside and outside the manhole, thus eliminating the need for an expensive grounding loop with a resistance of 0,5–4,0 Ohm typically required for electrical safety, and allowing instead a grounding loop with a resistance of just 10–20 Ohm.
04 Delivery kit
- Compact polymer manhole with a watertight cover
- Energotek KTP cross-bonding link box
- Energotek PPS bonding cable (PE insulated) (sections per 1 m)
- A kit for connecting Energotek PPS bonding cables, brought out of the manhole, with transposition cables coming from the splice joints
- Mold for concreting
